System of a down is an armenian-american nu-metal band founded in 1994. It has four members: Serj tankian, Daron Malakian, John dolmayan, and Shavo Odadjian. In the course of the bands life They have released five albums and three singles. Most all their music is in protest, either to war or other war adjacent things.
Serj is the main vocalist of the band, He has created a lot of solo work which i will not list out here, Instead i reccomend you go look into it yourself because his stuff is very very cool. Personally me and my dad really really like elect the dead. Daron malakian is the main guitarist and Background vocalist, he also has solo work but i am not familiar with it and will not be writting about it here as well. Shavo odadjian is the bassist of the band, and John dolmayan is the drummer. There was a previous drummer before Mr.Dolmayan, Andy Khachaturian, but he left shortly after the band formed.
My dad has liked metal music long before i was born, so ive always been vaguely aware of it. I dont know when i learned about system of a down but i was familiar with the name. In the fall of 2022 i decided to fully listen to chop suey! because i had heard snippits of it on tiktok and it was so good. I decided to listen to the rest of toxicity (the album) and i was instantly obsessed. I decided to work my way through all of their discography, taking my time to enjoy it thoroughly before i moved on to the next album. My personal favorite album is Steal this album, My favorite song is Innervision and it is my DREAM to see system live. I know they are playing in las vegas but it is not viable in any way for me to go to that like at ALL.
